The Colours of Croatian Naive Art

Visit the Croatian Museum of Naive Art in Zagreb; explore the cradle of Croatian Naive art – Hlebine and visit the Josip Generalić Gallery and the old house of Ivan Generalić; sightseeing of a manorial estate in Zaprešić.

The exclusivity, uniqueness and strength of each country derive from its people. The colours of the area we live in are imprinted in each and every individual being. Croatian painters have portrayed the beauties of their homeland through Naive art, and this excursion follows in their footsteps. Obtain a strong retrospective of Naive art in Zagreb’s centre at the Museum of Naive Art with an exhibition consisting of approximately 80 anthological paintings and statues, classics of Croatian Naive art dating from the beginning of the 1930s until present day. Visit Jelačićevi dvori and the Matija Skurjeni manorial estate, named after an author who had great success by exhibiting in Rome and Paris during the 1960s. The experience could not be complete without visiting the cradle of this art, in the town of Hlebine. A real artistic treat is to experience the Josip Generalić Gallery and the old house of Ivan Generalić, where apart from the artwork of this great painter of Naive art, you can see family photos, personal items and an ethnographic collection.
