Danilo – Rider

Archaeological sites are always interesting to visit andinspect. Even though they are sometimes made up of barelyrecognisable remains, it seems as though a spirit from the pastspeaks through them and we are at once closer to hearing thesounds of a life that used to be. Cycle with us to Danilo, thevillage under which lay the remains of the Roman settlement Rider. Our cycling tour leaves from Skradin towards Bukići and Gradina, and continues across Škaljevice towards Danilo Gornji, one of the most significant archaeological sites in Croatia. There is a complex of a Roman villa, while the Gradina site features remains of dwellings and a fortification system datingback to prehistory and up to the Middle Ages. Danilo culture isassociated with the riton – a decorated bowl with four legs witha large handle used in rites, while the whole Neolithic culturalcircle is called Danilo culture. Come and hear the past!
